‘I have a dream’이라는 문장을 들었을 때
한국 사람은 아바의 노래를 떠올릴 겁니다.
1979년에 스웨덴의 4인조 그룹인 아바가 발표한
‘I have a dream’은 한국에서 크게 히트합니다.

링컨 대통령의 I have a dream

1863년 1월 1일 미국의 에이브러햄 링컨 대통령은
노예 해방 선언(Emancipation Proclamation)을 발표합니다.
모두가 평등하고 자유로운 세상이 그가 꿈꾸는 세상입니다.

마틴 루터 킹의 I have a dream

링컨의 노예해방선언 이후 100년 뒤인 1963년에
링컨 기념관 앞에서 마틴 루터 킹 목사는 ‘I have a dream’이라는 연설을 합니다.

우리의 I have a dream

마틴 루터 킹 목사의 ‘I have a dream.’은
이후 워싱턴D.C.의 링컨기념관 앞 바닥에 새겨져
미국인들에게 희망과 화합의 상징이 되었고,
미국은 최초의 유색인종 대통령인 오바마 대통령을 탄생시킵니다.
마틴 루터 킹 목사 연설 이후 50년 뒤인 2013년에
킹 목사가 연설했던 그 자리에서 오바마 대통령이 다시 한 번 연설합니다.

모든 꿈이 이루어지는 것은 아니지만
꿈을 가진 사람만이 꿈을 이룰 수 있습니다.
없는 꿈을 이룰 수는 없으니까요.
